On October 20, the Energy Bureau of Honghe Prefecture officially responded to a proposal from the local Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on strengthening green electricity to support green industrial economic development, disclosing the region’s power grid construction progress and new energy project plans.
According to the response, from January to July 2026, fixed-asset investment in Honghe’s power grid reached 504 million yuan, achieving 66.93% of the annual target. To date, 10 main-grid projects have commenced construction, including the 110-kilovolt Fengtai and Benku substation projects, while seven projects have been commissioned, including the 110-kilovolt Yong’an (Renhe) substation project. The 500-kilovolt Honghe substation expansion project is currently procuring construction and supervision services, and the 220-kilovolt Wuzhe substation third transformer expansion has entered construction phase.
Regarding new energy planning, Honghe Prefecture has planned new energy projects with a total installed capacity of 14.6345 million kilowatts. The 500-kilovolt Guishan substation expansion and its supporting 220-kilovolt intervals for Yunnan Honghe Aluminum Phase I were commissioned in August 2024 and August 2026 respectively, and enterprises currently have ample power capacity. The 500-kilovolt Yaozhou substation project is in the feasibility study phase, and will be launched promptly once stable power demand, project timelines, and procedures are confirmed, ensuring completion before green aluminum Phase II and downstream key enterprises need power.
Honghe’s grid construction priorities focus on meeting power demands of green aluminum and green silicon industries. As the new power system advances, distribution grid capacity and power quality have become critical links supporting local green industrial development.
