September 18, 2025 — According to the latest publication from the China National Intellectual Property Administration, the patent “An Intelligent Anti-Misoperation Grounding Wire Hook Device” (publication No. CN120657466A) filed by Beijing Xingye Jianda Electric Co., Ltd. (“Xingye Jianda”) has officially entered the publication phase. Focusing on power equipment operation safety, the patent solves the misoperation problem of conventional grounding wire hooks through coordinated mechanical and intelligent monitoring design, adding another safety barrier to substation maintenance work.
The core design includes the following innovative modules:
1. Intelligent Interlocking Support Plate
A support plate made of high-rigidity composite material houses a built-in pressure sensor. When the hook is not fully locked, the system automatically triggers a mechanical locking mechanism that prevents the grounding wire from being attached. Experimental data shows this design reduces the risk of misoperation to below 0.05%.
2. Dynamic Clamping Assembly
Equipped with adaptive clamping jaws, a spring-ratchet mechanism adjusts the conductor contact force in real time. Under complex conditions such as strong wind or vibration, the clamping force remains stable within 200N ± 5%, avoiding virtual-contact discharge caused by poor contact.
3. IoT Status Monitoring
With an integrated RFID identification chip and Bluetooth transmission module, operators can check hook status in real time via mobile terminals. If abnormal displacement or unauthorized operation is detected, the system automatically sends an alert to the management platform.
State Grid’s 2024 Safety Report indicates that around 37% of power equipment misoperation accidents are directly related to improper grounding wire attachment, causing annual economic losses of over RMB 12 billion. Conventional hooks rely on visual confirmation and suffer from three major shortcomings:
- Operational blind spots: difficult to confirm hook locking status at night or in severe weather
- Human error: about 15% of misoperation accidents stem from operator distraction or inexperience
- Management gaps: lack of full-process digital traceability
Through the dual safeguard of “mechanical interlocking + intelligent sensing”, Xingye Jianda’s patent achieves the leap from “human prevention” to “technical prevention”. In field tests at a 220kV substation in Tianjin, the device successfully intercepted 3 misoperations and improved attachment efficiency by 28%.
As a national SRDI “Little Giant” enterprise, Xingye Jianda has continued to increase R&D investment in power safety. Data from Tianyancha shows the company holds 52 patents, 23 of which were added in the past three years, covering smart distribution, fault warning and other core areas. This patent marks the formation of a full “detection – warning – execution” technology chain in grounding wire safety.
Statement from Technical Director Wang Yangming
“Anti-misoperation designs for conventional hooks tend to focus on a single stage, whereas we have achieved system-level protection through a modular architecture. For example, the ratchet mechanism of the clamping assembly draws on the synchronizer principle of automotive transmissions, ensuring reliability under extreme conditions.”
As the share of renewable energy connected to the grid rises, the frequency and complexity of power equipment operations increase significantly. Estimates suggest that across the 1,200 smart substations State Grid plans to build in 2025 alone, grounding wire attachment operations will exceed 3 million, driving continued growth in demand for anti-misoperation technology.
The patent has completed testing in several domestic pilot projects:
- In the Zhangbei flexible DC project, the device withstood a -35°C low-temperature environment with no performance degradation
- For offshore wind scenarios, an IP68-rated derivative model was developed with salt-spray corrosion resistance of 1,000 hours
Li Wei, Senior Engineer at the China Electric Power Research Institute, noted: “This patent solves the challenge of coordinated ‘human – machine – environment’ protection in grounding wire attachment. Its modular design facilitates integration with existing smart substation systems and is expected to serve as a reference for the revision of DL/T 1478-2025, Technical Specification for Anti-Misoperation of Power Safety Tools.”
Xingye Jianda is currently conducting joint technological research with State Grid Tianjin Electric Power and Shandong Electric Power, and plans to launch a second-generation product with an integrated 5G communication module in 2026, enabling real-time upload of attachment data and cloud-based management. The company has also initiated overseas patent filings, targeting power infrastructure markets along the Belt and Road.
The publication of this patent demonstrates not only Xingye Jianda’s deep technical expertise in power safety, but also reflects the transformation of China’s power equipment manufacturing industry from “follower” to “leader”. Driven by the dual-carbon goals, enterprises that solve industry pain points through technological innovation are becoming a core force in advancing the energy revolution.
