On Oct. 14, the 60-megawatt/120-megawatt-hour energy storage station supporting the Guohua Rudong 400-megawatt PV project — China’s largest intertidal zone optical-hydrogen-storage integrated project — officially began operation.
The Rudong “optical-hydrogen-storage integrated” project is located in the tidal flat area of the Yudong reclamation area dike in Rudong. It is the country’s first project integrating photovoltaic power generation, hydrogen production, and energy storage stations under the concept of “comprehensive energy utilization + coastal ecological management,” and is also a national batch III “desert-gobi-gobi large wind power and PV base project.” The total installed capacity of photovoltaics is 400 MW, with an annual utilization of approximately 1,200 hours. The project supports construction of a 60-mW/120-mWh energy storage station and a hydrogen production station with a capacity of 1,500 standard cubic meters per hour, enabling local consumption and conversion application of green power.
The energy storage station now in operation has a scale of 60 MW/120 MWh, equipped with 27 5-mWh energy storage battery containers, 13 5-mW converter-step-up integrated unit prefabricated containers, and 1 2.5-mW converter-step-up integrated unit prefabricated container. After the energy storage units complete inversion and step-up through the converter-step-up integrated units, they connect to adjacent box transformers, access the 35-kV busbar of the energy storage station, step up to 220 kV through the main transformer, and finally connect to the grid through the PV switching station.
The project’s operation enables local consumption and conversion application of green power.
