±800kV Mengxi–Beijing–Tianjin UHV Project Completes First Line Crossing in Inner Mongolia Section

On September 16, at the construction site of Section Meng-3 of the ±800kV Mengxi–Beijing–Tianjin UHV DC transmission project in Xinyingzi Town, Tuoketuo County, Inner Mongolia, the first line crossing construction of the Inner Mongolia section of this project was completed with the final tightening and installation of a six-subconductor spacer.

The Inner Mongolia section of the Mengxi–Beijing–Tianjin UHV project starts in Dadaot Flag of Ordos City and ends at the border between Inner Mongolia and Shanxi province, passing through Dadaot Flag, Jungar Flag, Tuoketuo County, and Qingshuihe County in Inner Mongolia. The project will build 255.39 kilometers of new transmission lines and 512 transmission towers, and is scheduled to be commissioned in December 2027.

This crossing operation targeted the 500-kV Tuoyuan line. The line starts from the 500-kV step-up substation of Inner Mongolia Datang International Tuoketuo Power Generation Co., Ltd. and ends at the Hunyuan 500-kV switching station, responsible for transmitting electricity to the Beijing–Tianjin–Tang load center. During the crossing construction, State Grid East Inner Mongolia Electric Power Co., Ltd. coordinated with the Tuoyuan line’s scheduled outage maintenance, scientifically managed the construction schedule, completed tower assembly in advance, and finished the crossing construction within seven days.

The Mengxi–Beijing–Tianjin UHV project is the first power export channel from the “Sha Ge Huang” (desert, Gobi, and wasteland) new energy base in Inner Mongolia, capable of transmitting new energy electricity from the Kubuqi Desert to the North China load center. Once commissioned, the project will deliver over 36 billion kWh annually to the load center, replace 6.3 million tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16.6 million tons, further strengthening Inner Mongolia’s UHV export capacity for new energy from the “Sha Ge Huang” base and injecting more green momentum into the coordinated development of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region.
