To implement the national carbon-peaking and carbon-neutrality strategy and learn from the Greater Bay Area’s green, low-carbon energy transition, the Hunan Energy Regulatory Office recently sent its lead officials to Shenzhen. The team visited enterprises including Huawei Digital Power Technologies Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Qianhai Energy Technology Development Co., Ltd. to study the city’s advanced practices in building a new power system and integrating power with related sectors.
At the Qianhai district cooling project, the team went into the equipment floor of the Qianhai No.2 cooling station, touring the chillers, ice-storage tanks and power distribution rooms. They learned about the project’s energy-supply model, operating costs, new-technology exploration and participation in demand-side response, and discussed models such as green-power direct connection, computing-power/electricity coordination and virtual power plant development.
At Huawei Digital Power’s (Antuoshan) base, the team studied the company’s R&D and application in smart power supply, energy storage systems and super-charging facilities, focusing on the convergence of power with communications and transport infrastructure and Huawei’s practice in clean energy and energy digitalization.
The team also inspected the operation of Shenzhen’s virtual power plant platform and a zero-carbon smart substation built for public education.
Next, the Hunan Energy Regulatory Office will use this visit to study the “15th Five-Year Plan for a New Energy System” in depth, innovate its regulatory approach, and advance Hunan’s new power system to support the green, low-carbon transition.
